I've been getting into doing a bit of candid street photography lately...

Chicago, IL
From a series of candid shots taken in Millennium Park.
This is my idea of street photography, with apologies to Robert(s) Frank and Doisneau.

Chicago, IL
If I may be so bold, this one is a middle ground between Henri Cartier-Bresson and Eliot Porter...

A Chicago landmark: The Birdman of Western Ave.
He's been sitting on the corner of Western and Lawrence, covered with pigeons,  for years...

...whereas this guy is the lesser-known competition!

Here are a trio of pics from the Looptopia event held in Chicago in May of 2007.
It was an effort to do an all-night, 'city spirit' event, like the White Nights events held all over Europe.

A million people traipsed around the Loop all night.
There were some cool activities from 5 PM to 10PM, and then it all fizzled.
People wandered around and around looking for stimulation, and there was none to be found.
Anyway, I like how the four gals in the middle of this pic seem rather still while throngs of people buzz about...

for lack of other activity, hundreds of people congregated around The Bean.
(This sculpture is not called The Bean, but EVERYONE in Chicago calls it The Bean).

By midnight, people were headed home...

Before the street photography efforts set in (2005-2007), I 'flirted' with the idea of
shooting some 1950s pin up or cheesecake-style stuff (2001-2003).
Problem is that soooo many people are doing this sort of thing right now, and it is all starting to look the same.
So, it kind of lost its lustre for me pretty fast.
Nevertheless, here's the lovely Karina from 2002:

In less of a cheesecake mode and more of a fashion photography effort,
here is Karina again, followed by Valerie and Annie:

Here are some action shots taken while working for
Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band in 2006:

This gig was in a military airplane hangar!

The crowd at one of our gigs for the military.
Glad we gave them some happiness and joy before they were shipped off to Iraq to die for your SUVs.

Finally, here's my pal Tisha, pulled from the archives... circa 1987!
