CURRENT STATUS:

At this time, I am working freelance as a studio recording engineer, a live sound engineer, and as an audio and music technology educator.   A full-time position in one of these fields would be desirable under the right circumstances.


BACKGROUND:


Freelance Music Technology Instructor  /  1997 to present

In 1997, I helped found what became the Music Industry Workshop program, and I remain one of the two primary instructors for the program.  I teach (and have designed the curriculum for) classes on: beginning and advanced Digital Audio Theory, Pro Tools, beginning and advanced MIDI, Samplers, Synthesis, Live Sound, Mastering, and Music Theory.  I also teach dignal Flow, Microphones, Effects Processing, Staging/Lighting, Audie Essentials, more.

Since 2003 - both for Music Industry Workshop and as an independent contractor for hire - I have begun providing on-site services for those requiring training in music and sound engineering technology.  I have trained individuals in their home studios, professional studios, houses of worship, and a variety of other environments, in a program customized per each individual's needs.


Freelance Live Sound Reinforcement Engineer  /  Late 1980s to present

Currently working regularly as a live sound engineer for hire, including work for several Chicago based companies, not limited to: Lakeshore A/V, Critical Sound, Cannon Creative, Event Engineering.

I also engineered roughly 700 shows at Chicago's Park West Theater between 1998 and 2002, and have toured internationally with artists such as Royal Crown Revue, Ministry, Pigface, and Gary Sinise's Lt. Dan Band. 

Competent in use of all PA systems, mixing consoles, outboard gear, and microphones. 
I have experience in literally every style of music imaginable, for audiences from 15 to 15,000 people.
Extensive experience working a career total of approximately one thousand corporate events, weddings, parties, and trade shows of all description as well an additional one thousand music concerts.
Have worked as stage manager and crew chief on many occasions, and
have a solid working knowledge of lighting and staging.


Freelance Studio Engineer  /  Late 1980s to present

Competent in the use of all DAW software, particularly ProTools, Reason, and Digital Performer.  Capable of using any and all makes of mixing console, outboard gear, microphones, patchbays, software applications, and, yes, tape machines. 
Have worked in many of Chicago's top studios including Chicago Trax, Chicago Recording Company (CRC), Streeterville, Studio Chicago, Entropy, and my home studio.   Recent projects include work for: Radio personality Mancow Muller, All Terrain Productions, Blackout, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, Die Schon, Erin Mosher/Echo, Digital Idiots, The Defenders, Same Planet Different World Dance Company, and a remix for Faith No More.

Extremely savvy in use and maintenance of Mac OS computers.
